# Cove

> Cove is a voice-first reading tutor for kids ages 3 to 9. Children read aloud, a friendly on-device guide listens, and tricky words get gentle help. Private, calm, and fully on-device — no audio leaves the child's iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

## What makes Cove different

- **Voice-first.** The microphone is the main menu. Children navigate by speaking, not by reading menus they can't yet decode.
- **A crew of tutors.** Children pick from five friendly guides at onboarding — Rex (dino), Luna (owl), Splash (dolphin), Cosmo (robot), and Pepper (cat) — each with their own voice and personality.
- **On-device.** All speech recognition runs locally with Apple's frameworks. No audio, transcripts, or analytics ever leave the device.
- **Cozy by design.** One focal point per screen, generous whitespace, calm rounded type. Cove follows a "Listen & Glide" philosophy — never overstimulating.
- **Adaptive.** Difficulty adjusts to each reader's real attempts. Tricky words come back through spaced repetition.
- **Gross-motor friendly.** Tap targets are oversized (88pt+). No pinch, no long-press, no tiny buttons.
- **No accounts, no ads, no tracking.** Ever.
